Being surrounded by nature is a spiritual experience for me. I respond to the landscape, from bodies of water to the spacious skies, to varieties of plant life in my environment. I feel emotional reactions to color relationships in nature & enjoy expressing its range & luminosity. Patterns in nature as well as in textiles influence me. I also enjoy painting the figure and portraits, as people are a fascinating subject.
My work is included in many public and private collections including The Art Museum of Texas, The University of Texas San Antonio and The Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority. I was named one of “The Top Ten Artists to Collect’” by Texas Monthly Online Magazine in April of 2017.
I have a Masters of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Teaching art as a Professor, I taught painting, drawing and design full time from 1981 to 2015 at Del Mar College, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Hopefully my work resonates with my viewers who might become more aware of the mystery of their surroundings after seeing my paintings. Being able to express myself by painting inspires me to make meaning out of life.
